The “Grimoire of the Wicca” was originally a ‘dump’ of an old pagan BBS that dated back to days of Dungeons and Dragons. This compilation contains Wiccan and Occult knowledge, rituals, and rants. This tome is more a reference book than a how-to book however as I said earlier you will find some (actually quite a few rituals) and the lore behind these rituals. This e-book is presented as a service by the Circle of the Dark Moon coven. We believe that when prudent and safe, Wiccan, occult, and magickal knowledge should be shared. How else do people learn?

Elemental Breath Control Meditation

Untitled-2A variation to simply counting your breaths when meditating is to recite the five elements while practicing breath control. For instance, while breathing in say to yourself and visualize the elements as they appear on the points of a pentagram. Breathe in, “Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Spirit.” Hold that breath, “Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Spirit.” Exhale slowly, “Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Spirit.” Hold that breath at the bottom and recite, “Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Spirit.” Repeat five times—one time for each element. When you are finished, you may want to reach above your head and feel the energy as you pull it down into yourself. You may visualize this energy coming from the moon, sun, stars, or just the Earth in general. Once you’ve drawn this energy to yourself, spread your arms to either side and drop a circle about yourself. You are now ready to begin the main part of your meditation where you may contact your spirit guides, contemplate some aspect of the occult, or seek Divine help.

Cleansing Sacred Space


  • Sweep the area with besom then smudge with violet-sage.


Consecration of Water and Salt & Elements

Charge at the Pentacle

(HPS and HP with athames over their hearts and the other hand on the pentacle, bend in silence for a moment. During this time, they silently ask the Lord and Lady for strength and guidance .)

Blessing the Salt

HPS : ( places dish of salt upon the pentacle)

I consecrate thee O creature of salt, fruit of the Earth,
magickal aid, and seasoning for Cerredwen’s cauldron on the hearth.


I cast from thee all hindrance and malignity, so that in my works of magick you may well serve me.

All: So mote it be .

(HPS removes the dish of salt from the pentacle and then places the dish of water upon the pentacle. Then she takes the salt and using her athame drops into the water three measures of salt . She stirs the water three times with the tip of her athame . HPS sets the salt aside.)



Blessing the Water

HPS : I consecrate thee O creature of water the Lady’s sacred element; life giving, whether swiftly flowing like salmon swimming upstream or falling from the firmament .


I cast from thee all hindrance and malignity, so that in my works of magick you may well serve me.


All: So mote it be .


Blessing the Air

(HP places the censer containing incense upon the pentacle)

HP: I consecrate thee O creature of Air, bringer of cool autumnal nights rare. Like the seasons all things change and at the end, the Lord of the wild will be there.
I cast from thee all hindrance and malignity, so that in my works of magick you may well serve me.

All : So mote it be .


Blessing the Fire

(HP lights the incense)

HP: I consecrate thee O creature of Fire, signifier of the Sun. Burn brightly this Fall night so that we might chant by the balefire s light.

I cast from thee all hindrance and malignity, so that in my works of magick you may well serve me .

(HP sets the censer aside.)



Circle Casting
(by Earth)

(HP and HPS take their athames and trace the sacred circle. If desired, they may leave a doorway in the northeastern quadrant. They walk together with the HP’s hand upon the HPS’ shoulder.)

HPS : I conjure thee, O Circle of Power, to be a meeting place of love, joy and truth, a boundary between the worlds of men and the Realms the Mighty Ones .
A rampart and Protection against all wickedness that shall both contain and entertain the powers raised within wherefore do I consecrate thee in the name of The Lord of the Sun and the Lady of the Moon.


Strengthening the Circle

(by Water)

(Witch 1 : Sprinkles the salt and water mixture around the circle)

Invocation to the Goddess

(Note: normally the HP would/should perform the fivefold kiss before the Goddess invocation . However since this is a solar Sabbat the Drawing down of the moon is omitted. (HPS assumes the blessing position with her back to the coven.)

HPS : I invoke thee and call upon thee,
Mighty Mother of us all, bringer of grain, grasses, and fruited trees.

For, she brings the buds in spring and the flowers .
In summer, she laughs among the leafy bowers .
Come fall, she cuts the cane and gathers the grain .
In winter cold as graveyard stone, she exudes wisdom of the Crone .

By seed, by Hawthorn leaf, by bud and stem, by flower and root and leaf, I call upon thee, to descend upon thy servant priestess and to show forth your presence and love .

The Charge of the Goddess

(HPS as the Goddess Herself , the HPS turns to face the coven .)


HPS: I am the harmonious tune of the songbird
And the laughter of a gleeful child .
I am the bubbling sound of the running brook
And the scent of the flowers wild .

And the dancing fire in the forest glade .
I am the sweet smell of rains upon the soil

In your honor, we light the balefires until the smoke climbs to the stars from a thousand sparking spire .
Strike the harp . Gather the flutes, drums, sing, and dance in honor of you and a fruitful harvest.

Statement of Purpose

HP: Welcome everyone. Tonight we celebrate the Autumnal equinox once again day and night are equal in length but now the days grow colder and shorter.


Power Raising


Sir John Barleycorn’s Rune


All : There were three women came out of the West,
Their fortunes for to scry,
And these three women made a solemn vow,
That John Barleycorn should die .
They plowed and sowed, they harrowed him in,
They threw clods upon his head.
And, these three women made a solemn vow
That John Barleycorn was dead.
They let him lie for a very long time,
’till the rains from heaven did fall.
Then, little Sir John sprung up his head,
Soon amazing them all.
They let him stand ’till Midsummer’s Day
’till he looked both pale and wan.
And, little Sir John grew a long, long, beard,
Thus becoming a man.


They rolled him and tied him by the waist, serving him most barbarously.
They hired men with sharp pitchforks,

Who pricked him to the heart .
And the loader he served him worse than that, For he bound him to a cart.

Main Working

HPS: Now is the time of balance, when Day and Night face each other as equals. Yet at this season, the Night is waxing and the Day is waning. For, nothing ever remains without change in the tides of Earth and Sky, Fire and Water, know and remember, that whatsoever rises must fall, and whatsoever falls does so only to rise again . In toke of which, let us dance the Dance of Going and Returning.

HPS: (Leads coveners in a Widdershins procession about the circle. If room permits, the procession should spiral in close to but not at the center. When she is ready the HPS : raises the dish for all to see and declaims .)

HPS: Behold the mystery : in silence is the seed of wisdom gained .


HPS: (uncovers the dish . She then instructs all to meditate a moment.)

(When they are ready, the HPS goes to the eastern candle and the HP goes to the western candle.)

HPS: The harvest is fully reaped; the God gives of Himself

And journeys to the Higher Planes and the Sky grows dark.

Chilled winds blow in from the North as the plants turn brown and whither.

But, in the face of seeming extinction,

The Goddess sends forth Her Power, and by it we are sustained.

And thus, in the dark days of Winter we are comforted

By the knowledge that all is a cycle; Birth and Death, Spring and Winter, the end of all things and rebirth of all things.

Blessings and honor to the Great Goddess.

Blessings an honor to the Fallen God who journeys to the Summerland and Underworld.

Blessings and honor Goddess who as Persephone descends into the Underworld to love and bring forth to us the Sun God when Winter’s dark days are done.

Who now departs to the land of Youth

The Judge of Gods and man.
The Horned Leader of the hosts of Air
Yet, even as he stands unseen about the circle,

Hidden in earth, the marvelous seed of the stars .
In him is Life, and life is the Light of man,
that which was never born and never dies.

HPS: Let us prepare for the coming of winter. Mabon is upon us.

The harvest is done; time to bid farewell to Horned God and the waning



Do not to despair, for even after the harshest winter follows a springtime fair. The wheel of life is ever turning, blessed be!


All: Although the season of plenty draws to a close, the Gods are ever with us.
The Lord and Lady watch over us.
We give thanks to the Gods for this joyful harvest!

(The HPS raises her arms in a blessing and the HP responds in kind. They resume their normal places and then the HPS leads the coven in an outward spiral deosil procession. When she is ready, the HPS sends everyone back to his or her place.)



Elemental Balancing Ritual (optional)

(This ritual is ideally suited for five participants. It is conducted in a ‘Round Robin’ style, with participants moving around the circle to experience each element, with one person at each of the Quarter points and one in the center.

The ritual moves in an anti-clockwise direction—widdershins (Southern Hemisphere Deosil).

The purpose of the ritual is to balance the elements within each participant as well as to gain an understanding of each element from both a personal and an outside perspective. It also requires participants to work with both receptive and projective energies, visualisation and sensing.

Before the circle cast, each participant chooses an element as their starting position, usually whomever is leading the ritual will take the Spirit position. Elements can also be assigned by the leader or drawn from a cauldron randomly. It really depends upon the group’s preference.)

HP/HPS: Before me is Air

Behind me is Water

At my left is Fire

To my right is Earth

Above me the Zenith

Below me the Nadir

And all around me shines the Six-Rayed Star.


(When all of the connections are established, each Quarter person turns to face the center. They then direct their perception and experience of their element along the beam to Person A in Spirit.

The HP/HPS receives a message of understanding of each element. This is the receptive part for the person in the center. Each person that stands at a Quarter is projecting.

The HP/HPS absorbs the understanding and energy of each element and then moves to speak privately with each person at the Quarters – starting with Person A at Air, then moving around to Person B at Fire etc. The HP/HPS describes to each Quarter person what they have felt or understood of that element and the aspect being projected. They gift their new perspective to each person. Depending on how deep the trance, Spirit may have an elemental message for some of the participants.

Next, the HP/HPS returns to the center.

Everyone then takes a moment to absorb what they have just experienced and then the next phase – the Round Robin – begins.

Everyone moves one position Deosil around the Circle and the round robins continues. It is the HP/HPS choice whether they move out into the circle to Air and proceed with visiting each elemental quarter. If this is the case the person at the Earth quarter moves into the Spirit position.

When this exercise is complete returns to their original places. Everyone will have experienced both the reception and projection aspects of each of the elements and gained different perspectives by connecting with each element from the Quarter points and from Spirit.)

Consecration of the Wine and Cakes (Symbolic Great Rite)

HPS: You are the spear of Lugh, the Sun.

HPS: (removes the chalice and replaces it with the plate of cakes before the. She touches each cake in turn with her athame.)

Simple Feast ( Cakes and Ale)

HPS: (When all of the coveners have partaken of the simple feast, the HPS places some food and drink in the libation bowl. HPS raises the libation plate in salute.)

(The HP follows the HPS around the quarters except where noted while the rest of the coven remain in place around the circle but mimic the HPS’ gestures. At each quarter, the HPS and HP salute the quarter with their athames. After the dismissal, the HPS, HP, and coveners, draw the banishing pentagram. The banishing pentagram of Earth shall be used for all dismissals.)

Opening the Circle

(HPS and HP face the altar together. The Deities have been thanked and the Quarters dismissed, therefore, the next action is to ‘take down’ the circle. Since the circle was thrice cast, it should be thrice unwound. Also, because the circle was cast deosil it should be undone in a widdershins direction.)

HPS: O Circle of Power, as I have conjured thee I now release your energies into this blade.

(In your mind’s eye, see the circle dissolve into a wispy energy smoke, which the glowing blade readily absorbs)

HPS: Where there once existed a rampart between this world and the Otherworld, the rampart is no more . Once again, our realms are separate. However, the love and joy with which we met here tonight remains undiminished.


HPS : (Rejoins the HP at the altar and then together they face the rest of the coven)


Just as the oak must yield to the holly, so must warmer days yield at the harvest’s end.

Just as the Autumnal equinox signals summer s end, it is time for us to leave this realm of magick, mystery, and the circle of our ancestors and friends.

The circle is open but remains unbroken.

House/Apartment Banishing the Darkness Ritual

A reader posted this request on our Facebook page:

Greeting my sister & brothers, I hoping that some of you may be able to assist me on a time sensitive matter…A friend of mine is having darklings manifesting themselves around & even trying to harm her. She doesn’t have any one faith, however, knows I’ve delt [sic] with things along this nature before. This time however I am not close & she needs somewhat easy assistance to banish or block these things. Any ideas, spells, etc. are welcome. Thank you. Blessed Be. )0(

Since the reader didn’t specify whether they meant fae darklings or dark/malevolent spirits, what I am proposing is a general banishing. The Circle of the Dark Moon coven used this ritual last August to remove a “dark and heavy presence” as described by the apartment tenants. This presence was so forcefully expelled that upon reciting the final banishing, two members were pushed backward.

Usually, I would recommend before performing a banishing to first attempt contact with the entity/entities to determine what they want. While there are presences that are just nasty pieces of work, many perceived attacks (poltergeists, banging noises, etc.) are actually attempts by spirits to get your attention in order to elicit help. Oftentimes, these seemingly malevolent beings are merely entities that have strayed onto the mundane plane and don’t know how to get back to wherever it is that they belong. Just some food for thought, the monsters under our beds aren’t always monsters.

However, should you decide to perform a banishing, the following ritual has yielded us great success.



We begin this ritual by performing a variation of the Cabalistic Cross. This is done to secure a cleansed area for the working to follow. The Cabalistic Cross is traditionally executed by touching the forehead, solar plexus/genitals, right and left shoulder and finally the heart and intoning in order the holy names listed below this sentence.


ATOH ( thou art)

MALKUTH (the kingdom)

VEH-GEBURAH (the power)

VEH-GEDULAH (the glory)

LE-OLAHM (unto the ages)

AUGHMN (so mote it be)


However, for a more Wiccan flavor, use the below variation.



  • Face East. Touch forehead. Say IO EVOE HEKATE
  • Touch solar plexus or genitals. Say IO EVOE CERNUNNOS
  • Touch right shoulder. Say EKO EKO AZARAK (‘Hail, hail force of fire’)
  • Touch left shoulder. Say EKO EKO ZAMELAK (‘Hail, hail to the glory’)
  • Extend arms in form of a cross. Say
  • IO EVOE (‘Blessed be.’) Clasp hands upon breast and say ‘So mote it be.’



Next, we raise a magickal circle. If the circle caster doesn’t have an athame, sword, wand, or staff, or simple prefers not to use such an instrument, then the caster may use some lit sage, a white candle or even just their projective hand.


Using the magickal projective tool of choice (or even just your right or left hand depending upon your right or left handedness)


  • From the center of where you are casting the circle, go to the Eastern Quarter. Then, trace the invoking pentagram of Air and say, “I call upon Herne the Great Hunter
  • Continue counterclockwise around the circle to its Northern Quarter and trace the invoking pentagram of Earth and say, “I call upon Hecate, Queen of the Crossroads and Protectoress of Witches.”
  • Continue around the circle to its western Quarter and trace the invoking pentagram of Water and say, “I call upon the Morrigan the Warrior Goddess of the Celts.”
  • Continue around the circle to its Southern Quarter and trace the invoking pentagram of Fire and say, “I call upon Cernunnos the Horned Lord of the Wild.”
  • Finish tracing circle, closing it in the East.



  • Return to center of circle and face East.
  • Extend arms in form of a cross. Chant:
  • Say, “Before me HERNE The Huntsman.”
  • Say, “Behind me the Morrigan The Warrior.”
  • Say, “On my right hand CERNUNNOS, the Horned God.”
  • Say, “On my left hand HECATE, the Crone and Queen of all Sorceries.”
  • In your mind’s eye see the invoking pentagrams you traced blazing with an all consuming and cleansing fire
  • Say in a strong voice, “About me flame the pentagrams.”
  • Say in an even stronger voice, “And above me shines the light of the God and Goddess.”
  • Say in your strongest voice, “By the Power of the Divine Light,”
  • Say, “I banish this darkness from my sight.”
  • Say, “Depart, do not follow me or mine and never return.”

Oh my god, [they’re] full of stars.”


David Bowman’s final, paraphrased words from 2001: A Space Odyssey
applies not only to enigmatic alien artifacts but to pentagrams and pentacles as well. A pentagram is a precisely drawn five-pointed star (as in the case of Wicca save for second-degree initiations) with the one point up and two downward (spirit over body.) A pentagram is a pentacle inside a circle. A pentagram drawn with the one point downward and two up, for a witch, signifies that they are on a voyage of self-discovery and learning to face the darkness within lest it overwhelm them later. This tradition is similar to the ceremonial magician’s Dark Night of the Soul.” For a Satanist, an inverted pentagram or pentacle is a sign of pleasure over rationality, or that their will is the sum of the law, and love is the law subject to their will.


I have written this short essay because last time at class there was some confusion (most of it on my part) over the proper way to use the invoking and banishing pentagram. This essay is my attempt at clearing some of the confusion and correcting an incorrect supposition on my part. Another reason for the writing, and for that matter, the reading of this small article is that whether it be ritual or magick, your experience will be all the more powerful if you understand why you do or say something rather than reading empty words or following gestures by rote.


Since this paper is not a formal thesis, I have not cited all my sources (what good ceremonial magician would?) only those whose work I have extensively quoted.



The pentagram has long been associated with mystery and magic. It is the simplest form of star shape that can be drawn uni-cursally – with a single line – hence it is sometimes called the Endless Knot. Other names are the Goblin’s Cross, the Pentalpha, the Witch’s Foot, the Devil’s Star and the Seal of Solomon (more correctly attributed to the hexagram). It has long been believed to be a potent protection against evil and demons, hence a symbol of safety, and was sometimes worn as an amulet for happy homecoming. The potency and associations of the pentagram have evolved throughout history. Today it is a ubiquitous symbol of neo-pagans with much depth of magickal and symbolic meaning.

To the Gnostics, the pentagram was the ‘Blazing Star’ and, like the crescent moon was a symbol relating to the magic and mystery of the nighttimes sky.
For the Druids, it was a symbol of Godhead.
In Egypt, it was a symbol of the “underground womb” and bore a symbolic relationship to the concept of the pyramid form.
The Pagan Celts ascribed the pentagram to the underground goddess Morrigan.

Early Christians attributed the pentagram to the Five Wounds of Christ and from then until medieval times, it was a lesser-used Christian symbol. Prior to the time of the Inquisition, there were no “evil” associations to the pentagram. Rather its form implied Truth, religious mysticism and the work of The Creator.

In Medieval times, the “Endless Knot” was a symbol of Truth and was a protection against demons. It was used as an amulet of personal protection and to guard windows and doors. The pentagram with one point upwards symbolized summer; with two points upwards, it was a sign for winter.

During the long period of the Inquisition, there was much promulgation of lies and accusations in the “interests” of orthodoxy and elimination of heresy. The Church lapsed into a long period of the very diabolism it sought to oppose. The pentagram was seen to symbolize a Goat’s Head or the Devil in the form of Baphomet and it was Baphomet whom the Inquisition accused the Templars of worshipping.
In the purge on witches, other horned gods such as Pan became equated with the Devil (a Christian concept) and the pentagram – the folk-symbol of security – for the first time in history – was equated with “evil” and was called the Witch’s Foot.

The Old Religion and its symbols went underground, in fear of the Church’s persecution, and there it stayed, gradually withering, for centuries.
In the foundation of Hermeticism, in hidden societies of artisans and scholarly men, away from the eyes of the Church and its paranoia, the proto-science of alchemy developed along with its occult philosophy and cryptical symbolism. Graphical and geometric symbolism became very important and the period of the Renaissance emerged. The concept of the microcosmic world of Man as analogous to the macrocosm, the greater universe of spirit and elemental matter became a part of traditional western occult teaching, as it had long been in eastern philosophies.” As above, so below” The pentagram, the ‘Star of the Microcosm’, symbolized Man within the microcosm, representing in analogy the Macrocosmic universe. The upright pentagram bears some resemblance to the shape of man with his legs and arms outstretched. In Tycho Brahe’s Calendarium Naturale Magicum Perpetuum (1582) occurs a pentagram with human body imposed and the Hebrew for YHSVH associated with the elements. An illustration attributed to Brae’s contemporary Agrippa (Henry Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim) is of similar proportion and shows the five planets and the moon at the centre point – the genitalia. Other illustrations of the period by Robert Fludd and Leonardo da Vinci show geometric relationships of man to the universe. Later, the pentagram came to be symbolic of the relationship of the head to the four limbs and hence of the pure concentrated essence of anything (or the spirit) to the four traditional elements of matter – earth, water, air and fire – spirit is The Quintessence.

No known graphical illustration associating the pentagram with evil appears until the nineteenth century. Eliphaz Levi Zahed (actually the pen name of Alphonse Louis Constant, a defrocked French Catholic abbé) illustrates the upright pentagram of microcosmic man beside an inverted pentagram with the goat’s head of Baphomet. It is this illustration and juxtaposition that has led to the concept of different orientations of the pentagram being “good” and “evil”.


Five points for five elements:


While people have been drawing pentagrams for one purpose or another for thousands of years, it was the Greeks, particularly the mathematician, Pythagoras (of a2 + b2 = c2 = the Pythagorean Theorem fame) who first assigned elemental names to the five points of the pentagram. He also furthered some interesting properties of pentagram:


  • The ratio of any two unbroken line segments joined at point vertices, is approximately 1.618~. Check your trigonometry if you don’t believe me. This number is known as the golden mean. The golden mean also refers to body proportions of arms to legs. A normal human body with the arms and legs arranged properly forms the points for a pentacle.
  • A pentacle is unicursal; it is a single unbroken loop.


  • The golden mean may also be derived from the either of the shorter line segments formed from a long line segment where a point breaks such a line.


  • Treating the line segments as cords intersecting a circle provides the basis for some trigonometric and geometric functions. Remember our discussion about “circle geometries?”


The pentagram was adopted by Enochian ceremonial magicians and later by the Golden Dawn (not to be confused with the golden mean.) Somewhere in time, the wice, or witches learned this symbol.


Possibly, witches learned the use of this symbol from the druids. If druids were the priests of their time, then the witches were the village deacons: more accessible and less aloof than their druid brethren. The witches may have learned or copied druidic rituals and then changed them as they saw fit.


Druids were certainly well aware of the Greeks and could have learned some mathematics from them and then passed this knowledge on to the village wice or wicce (hence Wicca.) Much—not all—of witchcraft to me seems like watered down versions of ceremonial magick.


Pythagoras as I mentioned earlier assigned each point of the pentagram one of the basic magickal elements: Spirit or Will, Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.


Over the years the points the elements were assigned to shifted somewhat. One can attribute that fact to differences between Wiccan traditions and the cases where practitioners altered the directions of the elements to correspond more closely to the local geography. As in the case of some who call Air in the north and orient their altars as such. However, most traditions assign the elements as illustrated in fig. 1.

Pictured above is the pentacle, as we know it, oriented (usually) with one point up and two downward, and girded within circle. Some have proffered the idea that the circle represents protection, and or the fact that all the elements are connected. Personally, I ascribe to the latter notion. Elements and their respective colors assigned to the appropriate points of the pentacle.


In class, we were taught to draw an invoking pentagram by starting at the point assigned to Spirit, then moving in an unbroken motion from Spirit towards Earth as depicted in the next figure. The quarter caller would then proceed from Earth to Water to Air to


Fire and then back to Spirit.     


To draw the banishing pentagram one starts as shown in the adjoining figure and then visits each point in a similar fashion to the invoking



That’s about as far as most witches go even though there are invoking and banishing pentagrams for each of the elements. Therefore, when drawing an invoking or banishing pentagram while calling the quarters, one is actually drawing the invoking or banishing pentagram for the element of Earth.


In my personal practice, I plan to draw the proper elemental pentagram at each of the quarters instead of using the more generic technique. I was experimenting the other day. I was standing facing the east and drew the invoking pentagram for Air. Even though I didn’t call the quarter, I felt the elemental’s presence or at least its interest. Apparently, the act of drawing the pentagram alone is enough at least to get a nod from the quarter guardians.


There is a case for using just the invoking and banishing pentagram in Wiccan rituals. That being that since Air, Water, and Fire (according to their colors) combine to form Earth, it is not considered improper to use just the pentagram for Earth for quarter calls.


However, there are four more possible invoking and banishing pentagrams. There is an invoking and banishing pentagram for all five elements. Generally, the rule for drawing an invoking pentagram is start at the point opposite the element you are invoking and draw toward that element. To banish the element, simply begin at the element in question and draw away to the element directly opposite. See the figures for invoking and banishing Earth.


The exception to the rule is Spirit. The forms for the invoking and banishing pentagrams of Spirit are shown in figures 4 through figures 7.

Therefore, to invoke Spirit, one draws to either the left-hand or the right hand-point from the lower either left-hand or the right-hand point. Then, to banish the elemental, you simply reverse the drawing order used for the invoking.


Why are there two sets for Spirit? One set is for invoking the active Spirit and the other for Spirit in a passive sense. Put another way, an active invoking of Spirit is Spirit in a superior position over the element, which is what you would want in most circumstances. Invoking Spirit in an inferior mode or under the elements would be satanic equivalent of an inverted pentagram all that the satanic inverted pentagram stands for (e.g. flesh over spirit.)


Of course, this discussion regarding Spirit is moot since I am not aware of any Wiccan rituals that require Spirit to be called. This is just another one of my little intellectual curiosities.


Finally, to have one of my hypotheses proved wrong. Back when life was simpler and we only had one invoking pentagram, I suggested a better banishing pentagram would be just to draw down the right side of Spirit since the resulting pentagram would be a mirror image of the invoking pentagram used.




I don’t know where I came up with that but I cannot find the source and until I can find a verifiable source that says that, I have to say that my supposition was invalid—just plain wrong. Besides, I think we have enough invoking and banishing pentagrams without adding another one.
